Koprivshtitsa i a historic Bulgarian town on the southern side of the Balkan Mountain, around 100 km from Sofia. Koprivshtitsa is one of the symbols of Bulgaria. During the National Revival period in the 19th century the town was a thriving center of culture, crafts, commerce and revolutionary activities. Koprivshtitsa played a big part in the struggle for Bulgarian national independence. The town is now an architectural reserve with the majority of the traditional houses preserved in their original look. There are many guest houses, traditional restaurants and museums. If you would like to see the essence of Bulgaria, visit Koprivshtitsa!

Koprivshtitsa is one of my favorite places. We like to stay at Pri Bai Gencho (http://baigencho.com/) when we go – a lovely family hotel and restaurant.
