Next to the house-museum of the famous Bulgarian writer Ivan Vazov, in what used to be the servants’ rooms, is the restaurant Club Vazov (part of Checkpoint Charlie, which is just down the street). Yesterday I went there for lunch for the first time. We sat on the outside tables, which are in the yard of the house. I found it very authentic and endearing with flower pots and beautiful knitted table cloths. The menu has a lot of variety combining traditional Bulgarian dishes with some that are more international. The food was excellent and in combination with the atmosphere of the restaurant made for the perfect relaxed weekend lunch.
